Evaluating Your Website
Those who have website obviously put a lot of effort in to creating it. Some will either code themselves or paid someone else lots of money to make it. Whichever way, you would want to get the most out of it. How do you know that your website will be a success.
When you create the website, you need to know why have you set it up. Are you selling some thing or providing information or other?
You need to know what you want to happen when someone visit your site. If you don’t know that, who can you expect others who visit know it. You need to set it up so people will know where to go and what to do. Mostly visitors visit websites to gather some information they want. If they can’t find it at your website, they will move on. If your website has plenty of traffic, it doesn’t mean it will be successful.
How can you measure if you are successful with your website. If you are selling something, you can always check from the conversion rate. Conversion rate is a rate where your visitors turn buyers. If you are not selling anything, you need to convince your visitor to do what you need them to do, like maybe signing up for your newsletter or even subscribing to your website. Say, if you have 100 visitors and only 2 people subscribe to your website, it means you conversion rate is only 2%. If its too low, it means that your marketing or advertising effort is not working or you could be attracting in the wrong type of visitors.
To get high ranking in search engine, you need to optimise your website with the correct keyword. If your website is not optimise, they probably won’t be able to find your site on the search engine. The more higher your rank in the search engine, the more traffic your will get and will help to increase your conversion rate.
The content of your website should also be based on the subject and purpose of your website. Example, if you are selling electrical items, your website obviously should have more content and articles about electrical stuffs and not kitchen articles. Unrelated articles usually confuse visitors and lower down your website credibility.
Another important thing is that your website should be user friendly which means they can easily navigate around your website. You don’t want them to scratch their head looking for the checkout button don’t you. Make sure all links are easily found and the button description are easy to read and understand. Too much information on every page will also confused people. So make sure you spread them out evenly. The first page or your homepage should be captivating so that they will stay on. Do not put everything on the front page or they will move on very quickly.
Continual improvement on your website should also be done. There is always room to improve. Nothing is perfect. However implement new things into your website should be done gradualy in case of any major disaster. If you are not confident on doing it yourself, do get someone professional to do it. It will really save you all the hassle.
