Coin dealer

I was reading up a friend blog and notice that she has a friend who has upgrade his coins collecting hobby to investing in coins. From what I read, this friend of hers has now gone really serious into it and is willing to spend more time and money in this coins collecting of his. It goes to an extent that he consulted a reputable coin dealer to expand his coins collection. I didn’t know that collecting coins can be that of a serious hobby. Do you think that these collectible coins will appreciate in value in the medium to long term. I really have no idea and hope that he will be lucky with his investment.
